The primary goal of a workshop in ISSRE is to bring together researchers and practitioners in a specific software reliability engineering area so that effective cross-pollination of ideas can occur. We encourage each workshop attendee to contribute to the meeting in one way or another. At ISSRE 2009, we had one workshop a day, running in parallel with the conference. Each of these had close to a 100 participants in them. This year, we are in the midst of figuring out how we will lay out the workshops. Much depends on the facilities and logistics that we can pull together. At ISSRE 2008, we held all the workshops on one day - the first day of the conference. And we had almost a hundred participants at the workshops. Some of these workshops were continuations of discussions that began at the same workshop from a 2007. We see workshops as an evolving sub-community within ISSRE where specific interest areas are developed. As we look at 2010 and plan for a much larger conference we welcome ideas from people who want to build on the workshops we have had. Read the "Industry Workgroup Report" on the ISSRE 2009 site, to see what opinions were brainstormed last year. There seems to be a pattern evolving in the successful development of workshops: They have a mix of formal submissions (such as papers, and experience reports) and the creation of panels of experts that help the group delve into details and share experiences. For 2010 we want to build on the success of ISSRE workshops and grow this category of participation. The industrial committee will take on the role of receiving workshop ideas from potential "workshop chairs" and help develop them and target audiences. We will announce the details of what we want in the workshop proposal on this web page and the process of workshop selection and development.
